Assistant Director for Corporate and Foundation Relations

Job Summary:
Smith College seeks an Assistant Director to work with the Corporate and Foundation Relations team to develop and implement strategies for corporate and foundation support of the college, as well as to provide high quality grant reporting. Develop and manage funding relationships with specific organizations on behalf of the college and foster other beneficial forms of corporate engagement.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Prospect Management: Manage a portfolio of corporate and foundation prospects. Identify and develop new sources of support for the college, with a particular emphasis on corporate relationships. Accompany college officials on corporate and foundation calls and arrange site visits. Serve as the grant project manager for selected corporate and foundation relationships as assigned. Work with advancement colleagues to develop relationships with alumnae and other advocates in corporate settings.

Committee Work: With other members of the Corporate and Foundation Relations team, staff volunteer and advisory committees as required. Attend Smith College on- and off-campus alumnae events and other special events to represent the CFR office.

Writing Responsibilities: Develop and write institutional grant proposals in c

ollaboration with academic and program directors, faculty, and other members of the CFR team. Prepare assigned grant reports, and other related correspondence.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree and a minimum of three years of relevant experience and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in higher education preferred.

Skills: The ability to work independently and strategically to accomplish multiple and varied projects in a fast-paced collaborative setting. The willingness and ability to maintain a vigorous travel schedule with up to one-third of time on the road. Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills. Excellent interpersonal skills, including the ability to work effectively with people of all backgrounds.
