Leadership Gifts Officer ( Campaign Assignment)

As part of a five-year (5) Campaign Goal to reach unprecedented heights in our Institutional Advancement Division, we are conducting a search for a Leadership Gifts Officer II.

Reporting to the Associate Vice-President of Development, the Leadership Gifts Officer is responsible for the management of a leadership prospects portfolio consisting of donors who are capable of making commitments of $25,000 and more to special projects at the College. This individual will work closely with colleagues in Leadership Gifts, Gift Planning, Annual Giving, Prospect Research, and College Relations to ensure the best efforts of managing relationships and securing support from donors.

This officer must be able to work independently and collaboratively as a team member in the Development department. The officer must work strategically, as assigned, with the Vice President for Development, other senior administrators, faculty, staff, campaign volunteer leaders, and the College President to support college-wide fund raising priorities.

Our ideal candidate profile will include:

Bachelor's degrees with six years of related experience in fundraising or related field (such as sales) are required.

Education beyond undergraduate degree and/or professional license, CFRE, is preferred. Experience in higher education and with comprehensive fund raising campaigns experience is a plus.

Excellent oral and written communication skills required, with the ability to read and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical and procedural manuals.

Excellent writing and proofreading skills and the ability to write proposals, correspondence, and reports is required. Candidate must posses the competencies to speak effectively when interacting with prospects, donors, the public and the entire Spelman community.

Demonstrated skill set to communicate clearly and persuasively, orally and in writing, during one-to-one visits and in groups. The candidate must have a highly developed sense of confidentially and propriety in dealing with sensitive information.

The ability to adhere to deadlines while managing multiple projects is a requirement in order to be successful in this role. Excellent analytical and organization skills required. Sixty percent (60) travel locally and nationally is a requirement.
