Job Summary:
The Data Research Specialist has primary responsibility for accuracy of records, data entry, and operation of Black baud's Raiser's Edge system. Oversees gift and constituent-related data entry and completing the acknowledgement process. Produces and supports the production of standard and custom reports, queries, and creation and maintenance of mail merge acknowledgement letters. Builds a superior research function in support of the development needs of the organization. Serves as a liaison to coordinate with the IT department for technology issues and Corporate Communications for mailings. Must work well in a team environment and needs to maintain excellent relationships with various Unity constituents.

Essential Functions

Each Employee consistently demonstrates the following essential functions:

  • Assists with annual appeal, direct mail collaterals, direct mail responses and online fundraising initiatives.
  • Assists in grant procurement in accordance with the grant proposal process, including maintenance of the grants monitoring spreadsheets, grant-related documents such as grant budgets, 501(c)(3) letter, Articles of Incorporation, list of grant funders, etc. Tracks proposal submissions and reports due dates. Updates key parties of status of funded/denied proposals in accordance with the Unity Health Foundation grant proposal process. Attends periodic grant meetings and reports on proposal status, making relevant reports at staff meetings and informs key parties, as needed.
  • Works with Finance Department to complete monthly and year-to-date reconciliation of all gifts entered in Raiser's Edge against financial reports.
  • Serves as the Foundation's liaison to Black baud and with the IT Department.
  • Has primary responsibility for accuracy of records and data entry. Resolves Raiser's Edge issues and manages, back up, recovery, updates or performance issues.
  • Arranges ongoing Raiser's Edge training for staff, software upgrades, and remediation work and to address staff turnover.
  • Develops, implements and champions a strategic and comprehensive program of research activities to support the Foundation team's goals.
  • Develops policies and procedures for ongoing and continuous enhancement of the system/database.

Qualifications

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university.

Experience

  • Raiser's Edge software experience required.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office is required. Proficient in word mail merges and database management.
  • Healthcare experience preferred.

  • Have an understanding of public relations and marketing.
  • Ability to assimilate ideas and work with diverse individuals with varying perspectives.
  • Committed to Association of Fundraising Professionals Code of Ethical Principles when made known to candidate.
  • Must be flexible and available to work weekend and evening hours as position necessitates.

Physical Demands

  • Continuous sitting.
  • Frequent use of computer (repetitive fine hand manipulation) and simple grasping of items.
  • Occasional bending and twisting of neck and back, standing and/or walking, lifting/carrying of items up to 25 lbs.
