Dear Friends and Colleagues:

The Harley School, an independent school in Rochester, NY, instituted a new strategy for leadership giving in 2009. Today, 55% of Harley’s donors are committed at the leadership level. We asked Tonya Taylor, Director of Development, and Karen Saludo, Associate Director of Development to share the details of their strategy. Please read their comments in Leadership Giving at The Harley School in this month’s issue of Bright Ideas.

In the April issue of Bright Ideas, we published the first of a four part series of articles entitled “Engaging Leaders:  Working Effectively with Your Trustees” in which we shared the comments of two trustees on the subject of board performance expectations at their respective schools. In this current issue, we continue the series with comments from Dr. James Harris, President, Widener University (PA). Please see Engaging Leaders:  Working Effectively with Your Trustees, Part II – A President’s Perspective” for his candid comments on this subject.

An adjunct to the “engaging leaders” series also appears this month---Engaging Leaders: Alumni/ae Association Leaders. Three alumni leaders share their perspectives on the role of alumni as ambassadors, liaisons, role models, advisors, and more.

Don’t forget—we are always interested in your recommendations for topics you would like us to explore in upcoming issues. Send your ideas to: info@woolbrightgroup.com Please look for the next issue of Bright Ideas coming in September.
