In 2005, The Woolbright Group was engaged to consult on the university’s annual giving program. Seven years on, WG continues to provide strategic advice to raise visibility, increase leadership gifts, and add donors to the annual giving program. WG advises the annual giving and major gifts team around portfolio management, cultivation, and solicitation of prospects and donors. In addition, key volunteer organizations were established regionally, along with increased expansion and effectiveness of advisory councils in selected schools of the university. WG has also steered the marketing and stewardship programs, resulting in increased gift income.


Over seven years, the Fund for Catholic grew from $650,000 to over $1.1 million and increased leadership gifts by 25% in the first three years. Currently, the Fund consistently generates $1.2 million or more through growth and retention of leadership gifts and donors. With more effective donor education and stewardship, Catholic’s gift officers are more effective and efficient in managing their portfolio. There also is an increased retention of key staff members in this area over the past three to five years.
