As Director of Individual, Major and Principal Giving, Strodel will have responsibility for leading principal and major gift staff to maximize philanthropy from donors capable of $100,000 gifts and above to support Rensselaer’s highest priorities. He will develop a comprehensive strategy to engage interested individuals, expand the number and level of individual donors, and move them to progressively higher levels of giving. He is responsible for the overall management of the principal gift and major gift staff and directly responsible for supervising a group of advancement officers and administrative staff.
Strodel most recently served as Senior Advancement Officer, Principal Gifts at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. His responsibilities included developing leadership and principal gifts from $2 million and above, and creation of cultivation and solicitation strategies for a select group of the Institute’s most generous donors. Prior experiences include Director of Corporate and Foundation Relations at the University of Alberta and Director of fundraising teams at Cornell University School of Hotel Administration.
Strodel graduated from Boston College with a BA in History and Sociology, completed courses in the MBA program at Georgetown University, McDonough School of Business and earned a MA in International Relations from Syracuse University, Maxwell School of Citizenship and Public Affairs.
